Chieng born 21 November 1985 non-primary source required is a Malaysian
comedian and actor. Chieng is currently the senior correspondent of The Daily
Show on Comedy Central. He also created and plays the lead role in the sitcom
Ronny Chieng International Student, that premiered on ABC Australia (Australia)
in 2017. Chieng was born to an Malaysian Chinese couple in Johor Bahru
(Malaysia). Chieng was raised in Singapore as well as the United States. He
lived in Manchester, New Hampshire, between 1989 and 1994. Chieng performed in
an annual comedy festival in Melbourne, Australia in 2013 together with Trevor
Noah. A few years later, he was asked to audition for the role of correspondent
on The Daily Show, which Noah hosts. Chieng was named one of the top 10 Comics
to follow by Variety in July 2016. In October 2016, Chieng appeared as a guest
on The Daily Show to respond to an interview with Jesse Watts on a Fox News
segment that many believed was racist. Chieng presented an expletive-laden
critique of the conservative network's segment. Chieng also visited New york
City's Chinatown in which Watters had made fun of the residents. The video went
viral and was featured by the Washington Post, Slate, and various other outlets.
Chieng was a Singapore Sea Scout in his youth. Chieng has not been able to get
citizenship or permanent residence status in Australia despite having lived in
Australia for ten years. Chieng made an absurd joke about being intolerant of
dogs on 2018's Daily Show. However Chieng later claimed that he is "100%
not afraid of dogs" in an interview.
